Chicken Breast price per kg compared

Chicken breast is by far the most-sold chicken cut in the Netherlands: lean, quick to cook and versatile. The fillet comes from the breast of the chicken and is almost fat free.

Price per kilo differs notably between shops. Free-range, organic, or slow-grown breeds (like Beter Leven 3-star or Label Rouge) cost more because of stricter production requirements. Packaging matters too: marinated breast or pre-cut strips are usually pricier than a large bag of whole fillets. Check the current prices above for the exact differences.

When buying, check the colour (light pink, not dull grey), the texture (firm and not watery) and the origin. Good chicken breast has no liquid pooling in the packaging. At online butchers, pack sizes are often larger (1–2 kg per pack), which can bring down the price per kilo.
